The Seal of the Spirit

[13] “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, [14] who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.” – Ephesians 1:13-14 (NKJV)

Every product you buy has a seal on it, right? That seal communicates to the customer that the product is original and hasn’t been used. Many consumers look for the seal on everything they buy to trust it, or else they’ll not buy it. Good! Now, with this understanding, let’s look at what the Bible talks about the seal of the Spirit.

In Ephesians 1:13-14, Paul, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, revealed unto us that after we heard the word of truth and got saved, God sealed us with the Holy Spirit of promise. You may ask, but why? It’s because there is an inheritance for us in Christ as servants of God – both on earth and in heaven (see 1 Peter 1:3-4, Matthew 19:29-30). And it is through the Spirit we are assured that that inheritance is ours and nobody can tamper with it. Therefore, if you are a believer in Christ and you want to get access to your inheritance, you don’t need worldly wisdom. Instead, you need the Holy Spirit.

Dear one, it’s true that you are blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus. But to see the manifestation of these blessings, you need the wisdom from above to help you convert it to reality. That can be gotten through intimate fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Believe and accept the truth that you are sealed with the Spirit of promise.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for sealing me with the Spirit since the day I became Your beloved child. Help me to always depend on You for ideas and the wisdom to convert them to reality so that You can find expression in my life, even in this perverse generation. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
