The Path of the Upright Is a Highway

[19] “The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.” – Proverbs 15:19 (NIV)

Who is a sluggard? Simply put, a lazy person. And the Bible says such people’s ways are blocked with thorns. Really? A thorn, used in the scripture above, refers to blockades that impede moving forward or growth. So, from Proverbs 15:19, the primary reason lazy people hardly progress well is that the conditions of their minds create distractions and problems for them not to break through their predicaments.

However, the second part of the same Proverbs 15:19 says, “the path of the upright is a highway.” So, contrary to the thorns that block the way of the sluggard, the upright (meaning, righteous) person’s path is straightforward without distractions. It’s like driving on a highway. How do the cars on such roads move? Very fast. Right?

From this, one of the most guaranteed ways of succeeding in life is to live upright before the Lord. He will guide your path and make you prosperous as you follow Him. You don’t have to do much to figure out what to do. Just step up in faith and follow God’s leading. He is with you.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making me righteous since the day I chose to accept Jesus as my Lord and personal Saviour. Help me to follow Your ways ardently. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
