Every farmer knows there’s a time for planting and that for harvest. And between those two seasons, there’s a duration difference. That’s a natural principle God Himself instituted in Genesis 8:22 after the heavy downpour during Noah’s days.
However, some of us have difficulties discerning the harvest season clearer. We think God’s seasons for His dealings in the body of Christ and our individual lives are according to our timetable. That is why Jesus said, “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’?”
From that statement, it’s possible to wrongly predict a harvest season. But the harvest Jesus spoke of wasn’t that of fruits; it was people ready to receive salvation. Jesus added,
“… lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!”
The harvest for the salvation of souls is here. But before any child of God can discern it, he must lift up his eyes and look at the mission fields. So how a minister of God perceives a land to do ministry is exceptionally critical. He can see wrongly and downplay the work he had to do by grace to preach the gospel or see correctly to pray and do ministry much more effectively.
Your calling in the Lord defines your scope of vision.
Your calling in the Lord defines your scope of vision. In other words, the area God has called to witness Christ defines your mission field. If you’re called to the media, it might be that God is leading you to institutionalise Christ in this evil age through heavy-impact media influence. Or else, if you’re called to sing, then writing accurate lyrics inspired by the Word should be your hallmark.
There’s no area of calling too small for the child of God to make an impact. The harvest for the salvation of souls is here and now. Pray and be led by the Lord to work by grace.
Prayer:
Father, help me see right in my area of calling. So that by vision, I’ll witness Christ by Your grace until the fullness of kingdom impact gets realised. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
