Settle Issues Among Believers in the Church, Not the World

[1] “Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?” – 1 Corinthians 6:1 (NKJV)

As I said yesterday, the Corinthian church was one of Paul’s founded churches, but was noted for a lot of immorality. And so, because immorality was rampant, people had issues with others, even in the same church. But instead of sending it to church leadership, they instead dragged the cases to courts, which are, of course, presided over by unbelievers. And Paul, wanting to correct these things, warned them that they shouldn’t dare send matters between believers to secular courts.

Understand this, dear child of God. If the Bible says you shall judge angels and the world (see 1 Corinthians 6:2-3), why should you allow unbelieving judges in courts to settle disputes you have with others in the church? Have you forgotten how Jesus taught us how to handle offences in Matthew 18:15-18? Never use human court systems as your aid to settle issues among believers. Even if your church pastor isn’t good at settling disputes, don’t ever get to that point.

Yes, there are plenty of issues among people within the church. Some cheat others, refuse to pay the money they owe them, or fail to do business with others with integrity. In fact, it is sad that these things are happening. But no human is perfect. As long as there are varying levels of maturity, people are going to stumble in various areas. Be patient with others!

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your lovingkindness in my life. Help me love You deeply and be patient with people when they stumble in any engagement I have with them. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
