Practise Consistent Listenership of Sound Doctrine

[27] “Cease listening to instruction, my son, And you will stray from the words of knowledge.” – Proverbs 19:27 (NKJV)

Someone once asked me, “Why do churches hold too many services?” I smiled at him because he wasn’t a person who liked coming to church. But I answered him with a simple analogy about food. Why do you eat every day? To continue living healthy and strong. Right? What happens to you the moment you stop eating (if not because of fasting)? You start growing frail and weak. Isn’t it? Why? Because your body needs to be consistently nourished. It is the same for fellowship with God.

God ensures His churches and Christian organisations hold consistent meetings, release resources, like this devotional you are reading, and do more outreach because people have to be spiritually well-fed with sound doctrine. Church isn’t only about preaching; it’s also about connecting with many people who need several things in their lives.

Proverbs 19:27 warns that when a person ceases listening to instruction (from God), he will stray from the words of knowledge. When that happens, obviously, the quality of life will be reduced. Right? One of the ways to practise consistent listenership of sound doctrine is by attending church regularly. Another one is by fellowshiping with God throughout the day. That is how you keep yourself well grounded in God despite all life’s issues. Take your fellowship with God more seriously.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your love and care in my life. Help me always to keep my relationship with You thriving no matter how busy life gets. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
