“Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding.” — Proverbs 4:1 NIV
Day in and day out, many things crave our attention. From physical responsibilities to work to social media to advertisements, this world has been littered with distractions. And in fact, anybody who’s not living on purpose will become easily swayed by distractions from the world. What are you doing as a child of God?
Solomon, the preacher, tells us in Proverbs 4:1 to pay attention to wisdom and gain understanding from a father’s instruction. Why? Because he knows every wise father won’t give his child disastrous instructions to follow in life. Solomon was very wise despite his faults. We’re even benefiting from his wisdom today in the Bible.
You’ve got to segregate your life from the world. Be intentional about unsubscribing to polluted content online. Disassociate yourself gradually from ungodly people by reducing your communication with them. Pay attention to wisdom that stems from the Word of God. If you do this, your life will be so different from the world and filled with the Lord’s goodness that you’ll marvel. Focus on following Jesus. He’ll give you a glorious life.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that my heart will become knitted to Your Word. Help me pay attention to wisdom. Give me the grace to expel unprofitable things in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen!
