“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” — Psalms 20:7 NIV
Each day of our lives, we have the opportunity to trust in the name of the Lord as believers in Christ. But the question is, “are we intentional about it?”
Trust, used in the Bible verse above, is synonymous with remembrance. According to today’s devotional anchor scripture, some people trust in chariots and horses. I see it to be symbolic of what people put their trust in, in today’s world. That’s because, at the time of that scripture writing, there were a lot of wars, and kings measured their chances of winning battles by the number of troops they had and the strategy they’ll use. Today, it’s about money, fame and other earthly assets.
Funny enough, many people haven’t realised that everything earthly is temporary. Something beautiful today will be gone tomorrow. Only God’s Word will never pass away (Matthew 24:35). In other words, anyone who puts his trust in the name of the Lord, who’s the Word, will never end up a failure.
I challenge you today that if there’s anything in your life that you’ve leaned on, so much so that you’ve set all your hope in it, renounce that trust immediately and turn to God. See, life isn’t about who promised you this or that, but all about God. Don’t put your trust in unbelievers or people of the faith who’re not living in submission to God’s Word. It’s disastrous. Trust in the name of the Lord because He’s faithful to perform every single thing He has told you that He’d do.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for being ever faithful to each brethren in Your Body. I receive grace to channel all hope in me on You and Your promises, not earthly things which fade out with time. Amen!
