Manage Your Expectations with Godly Wisdom

[14] “Know also that wisdom is like honey for you: If you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” – Proverbs 24:14 (NIV)

How does it feel to have a vision to do something, but not know how to do it? Maybe God spoke to you to build a business, ministry or corporation. But when you look at your life right now, you don’t know how to connect the dots to reach that expectation in your mind. That is where faith steps in. You believe in the God who gave you that dream and wait for Him to fulfil it. Yes.

However, several Christians have done all that I have said in the first paragraph. But they feel like God has failed them because it is taking so long for what they believed God to do to be fulfilled. That is a serious issue because everyone wants progress, and many don’t like encountering delays in getting something they want. But what if I told you that it takes godly wisdom to manage your expectations?

For example, assuming you know God has said some things in your life and believe it to be done. But as you live each day, that dream becomes a secondary focus, and your little day-to-day activities leading to that vision fulfilment become your primary goal; you’ll end up seeing that dream fulfilled at a time you least expected it.

Proverbs 24:14 says that wisdom is like honey for you. Once you find it, there is future hope for you, and that hope (translated as “expectation”) will not be cut off. So, one trusted way to manage your expectations in Christ is by getting wisdom to sustain them. If you know that not everything in life will be smooth, seeing problems surfacing won’t surprise you because you are pre-informed. Don’t be in a rush in life; let God lead you.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving me wisdom. Help me manage my expectations well, lest I set myself up for preventable disappointments. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
