[13] “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,” – Philippians 3:13 (NKJV)
Did you know that Philippians is one of the most encouraging books in the Bible? The Apostle Paul wrote it when he was in prison. How come a prisoner of the Lord Jesus writes such encouraging words that have impacted (and continue to impact) billions of people all around the world? In those early church days, believers didn’t care much about having comfortable lives in their pursuit of ministry. They still preached the gospel whether times were good or bad. Today, things are different. Some believers don’t even like to stay hungry for just a day because of God’s work. Hmm!
Sometimes, things will be extremely good and going well. Other times, it isn’t. Life is in seasons, and as a believer, you must understand this because it’ll help you. When Paul was in prison, he didn’t see it as a disadvantage to sharing the gospel. Was he the travelling type of preacher? Yes, he was. But he understood that his time in prison was a change in God’s season for his life. So, he took advantage of that change to study deeper into the mysteries of Christ and penned down so many epistles, which we use today.
As you grow in this life, remember that you must have a forward-looking mentality in Christ, regardless of the seasonal changes you may encounter. Learn to be adaptive to changes. Be faithful to God for what He has called you to do, irrespective of the issues you face. It can only get better with you, so hope in the Lord.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for everything You have done for me. Help me always have a forward-looking mentality for everything You have called me to do. In You, I find my hope. Amen!
