God’s Word Reveals Who You Really Are

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” — Romans 1:16 - 17 KJV

When you stand before a mirror, you see what your face exactly looks like. Why? Because the mirror exposes the image cast upon it. However, the mirror is something physical. It can only reflect what’s in front of it. What about the inside — the inner content of the object in front of it? It can’t. Right?

Paul said in Romans 1:16 that he’s not ashamed of the gospel of Christ because it’s the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. Then in verse 17, he continues to say, “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith…”. So, it’s in the gospel that the righteousness of God is revealed. Now, who’s the righteousness of God? It’s us believers in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).

However, it’s important to note that the gospel of Christ (the Word of God) reveals you from faith to faith. So it’s step by step, not just a one-time thing. Romans 10:17 (NKJV) says,

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

The same faith that reveals who you are comes from hearing the Word of God. Therefore, as a believer, your consistent exposition to God’s Word reveals who you really are, just as God created you to be in Christ.

There is so much potential and strength in you to do great things for God that you’ve not seen yet. If those aspects of our lives will come into manifestation, then we have to become constantly exposed to God’s Word. How? By not forsaking the gathering of the brethren, by studying the Bible, praying as well as involving yourself in other Christian disciplines.

Don’t just sit down for God to spoon-feed you with everything. Don’t be too dependent on the labour of others in God’s kingdom for your spiritual maturity. Grow. Listen to others. But mature to take responsibility for your own spiritual growth.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, I pray that You’ll create more avenues and opportunities in my life that will influence my choices to come to You for fellowship and revelation. Help me mature in the faith and take responsibility for my personal spiritual growth in Jesus’ name. Amen.
