God usually gives big things in small parcels. So, because of this reality, many believers in Christ who lack accurate discernment downplay the potency of God’s gifts in them. As a result, several of them live below their highest potential, affecting their lives and the impact they can make in this world. But should that be the case for your life? No! Choosing to distinguish yourself from the popular ways people are used to will undoubtedly make you odd, but in turn, it will deliver a result many people will be envious of in the fullness of time.
Jesus said in Mark 4:30-42 that the kingdom of God is like a mustard seed which, when sown on the ground, grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade. Guess what that means? God’s kingdom in you through Christ (see Luke 17:21) has the capacity to expand you so large that others can be dependent on you. If you don’t believe this, ask the Christian entrepreneurs and ministers who have become heavily successful at what they do to the point that they look after several families, some not related to them in any way.
You cannot afford to downplay the enormous impact you can make with what God has given you. But here’s a profound truth. It takes a lot of diligence to bring to bear the potential God has given you. It is not easy. In fact, you must work not just hard but also invest in sharpening your gift. That is where people shun it because they are unwilling to go through the process.
Meanwhile, when some people bear all the discomfort, pain and hassle of reaching the top level, those at the base will start criticising and gossiping about them, forgetting the hours of private labour they put in to make what they have successful before many eyes. If you are a man of vision who has started something and is reading this, I urge you not to give up. Step up in faith and keep moving forward.
