God Made You Different for a Purpose

[16] “Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.” – Matthew 2:16 (NKJV)

Before Herod had killed all male children two years old and under, God had already told Joseph to take Mary and the Child to Egypt. So, that killing means that Jesus didn’t have age-mates who were males in Bethlehem. His parents raised Him in Nazareth upon returning from Egypt (see Matthew 2:22-23), so the subject of Jesus not having male age-mates in Bethlehem wasn’t an issue. Dear reader, I want to tell you that God made you different for a purpose.

Do you think it is normal for the arrival of the Messiah to end the lives of many children? No! The death of those children wasn’t God’s will, but it happened because Herod, the king, issued that command in anger. Some children pose a severe threat to families the very day they are born. Some even threaten the sustenance of marriages, and unfortunately, some of these couples are not sharp in discerning what God is doing in that season of their lives. Don’t let that be you.

Joseph was always obedient to God, which helped him save Jesus and his marriage. Obedience unto God for every instruction they give you is crucial to your survival in these end times. And if unexplainable things are happening in your life, remind yourself that God has made you different for the purpose He brought you on Earth to fulfil.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to accept how different You have made me, lest I compare myself to others or do what they do to feel relevant. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
