Focus on Pleasing God and Not Men

[12] “Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” – 1 Peter 2:12 (NIV)

In my few years of life on this Earth, especially since receiving Christ as my Lord and personal Saviour way back in 2016, I have realised that living to please people is one of the most difficult things any man will ever do. In a world where many people are doing awkward things just to get favour from others, it has become much more challenging for believers in Christ to walk boldly in their faith. But there is hope.

In 1 Peter 2:12, the Bible says that you must live a good life among pagans (unbelievers), so much so that they’ll see your good deeds and glorify God. But even though your deeds will be good before their eyes, they will also accuse you. Think about that! How can unbelievers see your good works and glorify God but accuse you? That simply means that such acts from the pagans (unbelievers) are demonic. Why do I say that? Because demons respect God, but very few humans. So, they cannot influence the unbelievers to accuse God of wrongdoing but will make them accuse you.

Be watchful over your life. Focus on pleasing God and not men. Whatever you do, people will talk. So, if you really want to walk in obedience to God, accept the truth that your actions will not please everyone. Even Jesus’ actions didn’t please everyone. So, controversies surround every believer who’s focused on living like Jesus. But once God approves of what you do, He will defend you.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your divine enablement to cling unto You, even in this perverse generation. Help me to please You in everything I do. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
