by[14] “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. [15] Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” – James 1:14-15 (NKJV)
There is a wind of doctrine around that says that if a believer sins intentionally, it doesn’t affect their salvation and their going into heaven. Because of that, some believers live in secret sins, thinking there’s nothing wrong with it. But Hebrews 10:26-27 (NKJV) says,
[26] “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, [27] but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.”
Think about the verse above. The moment you know that what you are doing is sinful after knowing the truth of God’s Word, the Bible says God will judge you. He can shorten your life in order to save you from drifting too far away from walking according to His ways. So, as a Christian, you must master the ability to say no to sin willfully. But how can you learn that? It starts with resisting the devil fiercely in your mind.
In James 1:14-15, the Bible says temptation comes before sin. Those temptations are driven by one’s own desires (some of which may be demonically orchestrated). But without shutting down those desires, they entice you to commit that evil. And when you keep submitting to those bad desires, they grow till God eventually judges you with death. So, don’t normalise sin in your life and think nothing will happen to you. I tell you, death is the eventual end of a life lived in sin. Make up your mind to live unto God every single day.
