[9] Who can say, “I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin”? – Proverbs 20:9 (NKJV)
Apostle Arome Osayi once said, “Man is a being of infirmities.” And that is true. Even Romans 8:26 confirms that the Holy Spirit helps us (believers) with our infirmities. So, even in our prayers, we can’t pray to please God without the Holy Spirit’s help. That is why anyone who lives by the dictates of the flesh can never please God.
God’s standards are too high for our human capacity to meet. That is why every human needs God, whether or not such a person knows it. No matter how hard you work, you cannot make it for the next four to six minutes without oxygen, which God provides. And God is so generous that even if people don’t thank Him for what He does for them without their notice, He continues to be good.
Dear friend, never boast about yourself before God. Never say you were able to do some things with your own strength, especially as a Christian. Otherwise, you’ll start sharing God’s glory with yourself, and He will bring what you think you’ve built to nought. King Nebuchadnezzar tried it, and God sent him to the bush to live as an animal for seven years before he came back to his senses (see Daniel 4:28-34). You are not wiser than God. In fact, you are a puppet in the hands of the Almighty. Give reverence to God and live humbly under His mighty hand. He will be so good to you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to give reverence to You wherever I find myself and in whatever I do. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
