“Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.” — Romans 12:16 NIV
Are people in top-class positions in workplaces, organisations and ministries willing to associate with other people of low positions? I can’t say a big yes. But to me, it’s not a perfect yes, because not everyone does it.
The Bible commands us to live in harmony with one another. And although Apostle Paul was addressing the Roman church, that is, to believers, I believe this sermon applies beyond the brethren, although it can be perfectly manifested in Christ alone.
Worldly people don’t know or understand the love of God. So when a mature believer is manifesting it, they question his character. Can I inspire you today? The standard is Jesus, not any minister or pastor. If you focus on obeying the scriptures and allow worldly people to say whatever they want, they’ll not succeed.
I want to tell you that you’re where you are today because God brought you there. And that means people must benefit from your anointing and grace. People seriously need help, although not everyone acknowledges it.
Don’t become a stumbling block for someone’s faith. And again, don’t compromise the standards of God’s Word. Be willing to associate with people of low positions to help them rise in the faith, not to lord over them, especially as a leader. Keep in step with the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:25).
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, in Jesus’ name, I pray that You’ll uproot every seed of arrogance in me. I choose to honour the people you’ve placed in my life to help and disciple so that by grace, we’ll rise together to impact many for Christ. Amen.
