[16] “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” – 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NKJV)
Did you know that you have an inner man, dear Christian, and that inner man needs renewal every single day to function well? Yes, that’s what scripture says. We live in an evil age filled with lots of evil. So, because of that, engagement in physical activities weary the outward man (the physical body) and sometimes, even the inner man. Let me give you an example.
A Christian banker will close tired from work, and because of such tiredness, he may skip prayer. Over time, as he keeps skipping his personal fellowship with God, his inner man grows weary because of a lack of consistent connection with God. Unfortunately, that is what has led to many believers backsliding in recent times.
Dear Christian, God didn’t bring you to this Earth to toil so much that you’d neglect your fellowship with Him. Whether you are a preacher, banker, software developer or whatever work you do, you must spend time with the Lord regularly. When you do that, it’ll help you to be renewed in your inner man each day. As a matter of fact, it enables you to work more effectively than any ordinary unbelieving worker. Remember to prioritise God above all else in life.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, make me conscious of spending time with You each day as I go about fulfilling what You’ve called me to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
