[36] “Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.” – Luke 6:36 (NKJV)
Mercy is becoming harder to find in this generation, not because it isn’t there, but because too many people have unresolved grudges in their hearts. But Jesus commands us that we should be merciful to people as God is merciful. Have you wondered how merciful God is?
Just think about the mercy of God. Think about when you were in the world, knowing nothing about God and wailing in sins. But God did not give up upon you. Instead, He ensured that you were preserved until the gospel found you. In all these, He was watching you. So today, if you are born again and have a solid relationship with God, why can’t you extend that same mercy to others who may be misbehaving today?
The Bible says in James 2:13 that mercy triumphs over judgment. Wow! Mercy is so powerful that it can shield people at fault from being judged according to the things they have done. While there are laws and court systems in several nations that don’t grant mercy to those who plead guilty for a course, be thus reminded that God’s Word is powerful, and you ought to live by the principles written therein. Have mercy on people and do good to them.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your overflowing grace in my life. Help me to be merciful to people as You are to me. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
