Balance Your Plan with Your Trust in God

[1] “To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the proper answer of the tongue.” – Proverbs 16:1 (NIV)

Are you a planner? If not, at least there are some things you intend to do if resources come to your hands today. And that is not bad. Several people do make plans. Some, by their gift of administration, carefully document their plans and follow them through. But others don’t, and some abandon it when the resources they are looking for to sponsor such plans don’t come.

But in Proverbs 16:1, the Bible says to humans belong the plans of the heart. So, before God, there is nothing wrong with consciously planning anything you want to do in life. And that also confirms the truth that spirituality doesn’t mean your mind shouldn’t be used to reason out things. But continuing the same verse, the Bible says, “… from the LORD comes the proper answer of the tongue.” What does that mean?

For example, you can plan what you want to say to someone. But upon getting to him, some things come up that can make you speak a lot more about things you never intend to talk about, although it may revolve around the same thing you want to share. God is saying that life for a person is not straight in His sight. His ways differ from man’s ways. And since he knows everything about each individual, He knows best how to direct each person’s life trajectory.

Can I give you some advice, dear Christian? Balance your plan with your trust in God. Don’t forget to plan, but remember that when God will fulfil those beautiful things you have planned, it will likely not follow your intended schedule. Only don’t give up. He will not put you to shame.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your direction in my life. Help me keep trusting You for all You intend to do for me. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
