“[19] For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God.” — 1 Peter 2:19 NIV
In a world where evil abounds, several Christians are being persecuted in various places — from work, to families, to schools and other environments. Many people have different perspectives about life. To some, it’s about working to make a living or to get something to eat. And to others (some children of God), it’s about living on divine purpose – doing what brings fulfilment in life as ordained by God. So, because of the variations in thinking patterns, what a Christian will do to honour God is likely to be seen as evil before others. That is why persecution is inevitable to face as a believer in this evil world.
Can I encourage you today, child of God? Not everyone will support you to do what God has called you to do. You’ll have opposition from various sectors of life and people. Some will leave you on the journey. Others will disappoint you when you need them. But it’s worth bearing up under pain because of your commitment to God. Physically, it might not be okay with you. But your reward in heaven for going through that is waiting for you.
Never forget that a suffering that is commendable before God will always be despised by mere men. Keep sacrificing for the cause of that divine vision God has laid upon your heart.
Live with eternity in focus, and all these earthly cares will be an afterthought in your mind as God settles each one for you by His grace.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for divine enablement to do what You’ve called me to do. I pray for strength to bear up suffering for Your name’s sake whenever I go through situations. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
