[10] “Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; [11] for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” – 2 Peter 1:10-11 (NKJV)
Everybody wants to get to the top in life, and that’s not bad. In fact, many people admire high-profile figures in society. But I’ve realised that though many people want to be great, some are unwilling to do what those who are great did to get to their level of influence. Yes, I totally agree that you don’t have to copy someone’s life. However, the person’s sacrifices to attain that height cannot be ignored. In today’s devotional, I want to narrow down the theme to only kingdom influence.
You are either in the light or in darkness. That is, if you don’t belong to God, you are of the devil. But both unbelievers and believers want to be great. So, the unbelievers use dark methods to achieve certain feats, which usually end them in dire places. But for believers, there is the God kind of elevation we must subscribe to, all written in the Word. One of such is being diligent in Christ to make one’s divine call and election sure (firm). It takes a lot of grace-enabled work to do that, not by human efforts. In other words, working diligently in your divine calling is a secret code to walking in higher expanse of kingdom influence.
No matter how big the vision God has given you, it will take work, not just prayer, to reach that height of kingdom influence. Aside from all the prayers you sow into the work God has entrusted into your care, do not forget to labour effectively. Go for wisdom. Research things you don’t understand that are related to your calling, so that you’ll not be bankrupt of the intellectual property you need to soar higher in the realm of kingdom influence.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for calling me. With divine enablement, help me to work diligently in whatever you place in my hands to handle. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
