[16] For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath. [17] But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.” [18] Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.” — John 5:16 - 18 NKJV
One time, a preacher came to my local church to teach the congregation about Jesus, being our lawgiver and judge. He was a lawyer, so he understood that when a lower law meets a higher law, it’s made of no effect. He said grace is a higher law. And one way Jesus proved it in the scriptures is written in John 5:16-17
Jesus had already finished healing a bedridden man on the Sabbath a few hours ago. And when the Israelites discovered that He was the one who did that miracle, they sought to kill Him. Why? Because he had performed the miracle on the Sabbath.
But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.” So Jesus knew it was Sabbath. Yet, because He’s the Lord of the Sabbath and also saw the Father extend healing to that man in the realm of the Spirit, He proceeded to perform the miracle. Why do I say this?
The sick man complained to Jesus when he was asked, “Do you want to be made well?” (see John 5:6-7). Jesus could have left him, but He still healed him.
Jesus got a higher revelation that inspired Him to perform that miracle regardless of the consequences that’d spring up. What higher revelation have you received to do what God is revealing to your spirit? Don’t you know there’ll be obstacles to the assignment God is giving you? Go for revelation, and stick to your godly convictions. God will give you victory.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your excellent leadership in my life. Today, I ask You for a higher revelation to pursue what You show me to do. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
