[12] “Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.” – Matthew 13:12 (NIV)
Yesterday, I spoke extensively about the first part of Matthew 13:12. But today, I want to focus on the second part of the whole verse. In that part, Jesus says whoever does not have, even what they have, will be taken from them. Wait! Think about this. How can a person lose something if he doesn’t have anything at all? It doesn’t make sense. Right?
But note that Jesus was speaking proverbially. So, some things He said don’t and will never make sense when analysed by modern-day English professors. What Jesus said in the second part of Matthew 13:12 is that there are some things everyone has by default — such as life, air to breathe and other things. To those people, if they misuse what they have by default, they’re going to lose them. And I must say that so many people have been victims of this.
For instance, what happens if a person fails to handle his life well? He loses how impactful he can be with it by engaging in evil practices harmful to his health, such as smoking and excessive alcoholism. Eventually, death comes to the scene, all because of poor life management.
If God has blessed you with something, and you are trivialising it so much that you tend to mishandle it, it’s only a matter of time before you start losing it. Don’t treat anything God has given you so lightly.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to love You dearly and manage every resource You have placed in my hands. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
