[20] “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.” – 1 John 2:20 (NKJV)
What does the word “anointing” mean? It simply means an unction. In the historic days of Israel, such unction was the inaugural ceremony of priests and the material used was prepared from oil and aromatic herbs. Today, for the New Testament believer, it is different. Your unction is the presence of the Holy Spirit in you, and He came to live inside you the day you got born again.
Because of that unction on your life, you are unique from worldly people. You don’t do what the masses do because God has made you different. When the Apostle John was putting up this scripture, he mentioned certain people who had crept into the brethren who were not born again, and such people ended up leaving because they didn’t bear that mark of Christ in their lives. Even today, that thing is still happening. Some people are thieves among the fold who steal from people whenever there’s a gathering. Be careful about your safety in such gatherings.
However, as a child of God, be thus reminded that you have an anointing from the Holy One – God. And by that unction, you do big things for His glory. Never give up on what He has called you to do, no matter how much distractions try to ward off your attention.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your anointing over my life. Help me to live differently from worldly pressures. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
