[25] “For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.” – Mark 12:25 (NKJV)
Did you know that marriage is earthly? There will be no marriage after the great resurrection, that is, after the second coming of Jesus Christ, where believers in Christ get raptured to join the Lord in heaven. Some people didn’t know this even during Jesus’ time on Earth, and I am sure that some people still don’t know this. It is sad to say that many people are more concerned with their relational life than fulfilling the purpose for which God brought them to the Earth, which will even have an impact on how they spend eternity because there will be a reward for their work.
Maybe today’s devotional might make more meaning to singles than the married. Are you single, thinking you are late in life because several colleagues of yours are already married with kids? Or are you married, but your spouse is giving you difficulties in life? If all the words from therapists, doctors and even pastors fail to encourage you, think about what Jesus said in Mark 12:25. Marriage is not eternal but earthly. So, it is better to marry right so it can enhance your life to fulfil God’s purposes or to stay single and focused on God than to marry wrongly and live regretting in life.
You don’t need to pressure yourself to hook up with someone just because of societal pressures. No! Take your time to discover your purpose in Christ, put that work in order, choose your partner correctly and be faithful. You are never late in life because God has got your back.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of life in me. Help me to fulfil all that You have said concerning my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
