[1] “Woe to you who are at ease in Zion,
And trust in Mount Samaria,
Notable persons in the chief nation,
To whom the house of Israel comes!” – Amos 6:1 (NKJV)
I first heard this scripture from Pastor Paul Enenche when I was watching a sermon he preached years ago. At that time, our ministry, The Bible Daily Network, was in its formative stages, so I used to work more hours than today. Frankly speaking, I didn’t understand why the work of the ministry was so demanding at that time. I didn’t have parents who were business tycoons who were forced to teach me how to work hard. So, that experience was so new to me that I had to learn it under extreme pressure.
Meanwhile, most of my friends at that time didn’t have that kind of lifestyle. So, everything was quite unique and somehow lonely to me. But glory be to God; things have improved so much after pouring years of labour into the ministry.
What am I saying? The Bible says woe to you who are at ease in Zion. “Zion” in the scripture refers to the spiritual abode of the now-believer in Christ. God is saying it is erroneous to be in His kingdom as a believer and be at ease in your comfort zone. Get that straight. You cannot become all that God called you to be if you are too relaxed in life, even in ministry. The fact that things have improved in whatever work you are doing doesn’t mean it’s time to sleep. No! There is always capacity for more in grace.
Never settle for less, no matter what your life circumstances are. You can improve your life gradually when you work hard at it. Instead of letting life torrents throw you around, be strong in the Lord to do what He tells you to improve your life and have more impact in God’s kingdom.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to work diligently in life as I live to fulfil the prophecies you have said concerning my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
