[1] As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, [2] saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.” – Mark 11:1-2 (NIV)
Rejection is one of the most painful experiences in life. Some people feel ashamed and disgraced when they face it because it tells them that they are not enough in themselves for what they are looking for. It could be a job qualification, selection for a team, or something else. But the God who made everyone unique knows how to deal with these cases. One of the ways He does it is by choosing the one people have rejected and making that person a very important figure in life.
Look at Mark’s account of how Jesus chose the colt he rode upon to go to Jerusalem. He sent two of His disciples to a village nearby and directed them to where a colt no one had ever ridden was located. Wow! Jesus knew how to identify even an animal people had abandoned in a remote place. How much more you? In a world that seeks to use only the best version of things and people, God is still in the business of choosing the nobody to transform that person into somebody in this life.
No matter how many people or companies have rejected you, you are not a castaway before God. Your life may not be as good as you want right now. But do not give up on God. There is a set time in God’s calendar to show forth you to the world in ways anyone who rejected you will be ashamed of themselves. Only don’t neglect your spiritual gift. It is well with you.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for choosing me. Despite the rejection I face, help me always remember that I am Your beloved child. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
