[6] “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NKJV)
Agriculture was one of the most dominant things many people did during the early church. So, if you can recall, many of Jesus’ parables about God’s kingdom have agriculture in their illustrations. Indeed, agriculture has a lot to teach us. But I want to focus on one today. That is, the principle of seed sowing.
In 2 Corinthians 9:6, the Bible says that the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also read bountifully. The two most prominent words to look into in this verse are ‘sparingly’ and ‘bountifully.’ Sparingly, from Biblical Concordance translation, means stingily. And ‘bountifully,’ from the same translation, means largeness. So, one talks about little giving out of stinginess, and the other talks about massive giving with an emphasis on abundance. Note that this verse isn’t really about how much you sow but how you do it. If you put emphasis on lack, you will give little out of stinginess. But if you give with the emphasis on abundance, what you give might be little but will end up reaping your harvest bountifully. It’s that simple.
Watch how you sow into God’s kingdom. You may not have as much finance or provision in your life right now. However, the way to come out of it is to have an abundant mindset that blacks out the noise of life issues in your mind. God will surely step up in your case. It is well with you.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me sow with an abundant mindset in my life. Nullify any consciousness of lack of resources in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
