Be Careful of What You Do When Angry

[16] “Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.” – Matthew 2:16 (NKJV)

Anger is one the emotions everyone has, just that some people’s own are too aggressive and destructive. In Ephesians 4:26, the Bible says we have the right to be angry, but we shouldn’t sin. That means anger isn’t as bad as some people claim it is. Secondly, sin lingers around when anger is kindled. Jesus was once angry with what some people were doing in God’s temple. So He scattered their belongings there (see John 2:13-17). Did Jesus sin for doing that? No! But Herod killed babies when he got angry after being outwitted by the wise men.

You must be careful of what you do when angry. Some bosses sack some employees after they anger them for not working well. Some parents also beat their children mercilessly for disobeying them. In fact, the sins people have committed in their anger state are too outrageous and destructive for me to list all of them. But here is a profound truth. When you let the enemy win over you in your anger state, you have a severe problem with self-control and must deal with it.

Do not allow a temporary emotion, which could be used to shame the devil, have you. Many things in life will only change after a child of God cultivates holy anger to pray against it. Also, many things will go wrong just because people can’t control themselves when angry. Control yourself, dear one.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to control myself well when angry. May I never forget the values in the Word as I deal with issues that come up in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
