[10] “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. [12] that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:” – Ephesians 2:10,12 (KJV)
I went to a conference years ago, at the time of this writing. In one of the breaks we had between the sessions, I overheard a brother saying very uncouth things about the church he attended (I was passing by when I heard it). Meanwhile, there was a testimony he shared days ago, at that same conference, about how God saved him from smoking and alcoholism. So when I heard what he said to others about his church, I said to myself, has this guy forgotten how wretched he was before Christ saved him?
Sometimes, some of us believers forget how bad our lives were before Christ sent ministers to reach out the gospel to us, for which we are now saved. It even gets worse when a Christian matures enough to become a pastor and then resorts to apostasy. God have mercy!
The scripture says you are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God had foreordained for you to walk in. Then, in Ephesians 2:12, Paul reminds us that we were without Christ, being aliens to the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenant of promise. In simple terms, none of us were without hope in the world.
When you keep in remembrance how wretched you were before Christ saved you, it will be easy to live ever grateful unto the Lord of glory for giving you this eternal life you are enjoying today. Some issues come with ministry, and many ought to be well confronted. But be grateful unto God, at least, for saving and giving you eternal life.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me keep in remembrance how wretched I was before You saved me through Your Son Jesus. May I ever be grateful unto God for everything You have done for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
