Warn a Divisive Person in Christ

[10] “Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them.” – Titus 3:10 (NIV)

Titus is one epistle that is not much talked about. Yet, in that epistle, Paul wrote many things meant for believers in general, especially pastors, to treasure deeply in their hearts. One of them is being careful when mingling with brethren who cause divisions. Paul clearly said that as a believer, you should warn a divisive person in your life. Now, when he said this, he knew that there would arise false brethren who think they know the truth so much that they start to pinpoint what others are saying as faults, which is not the case.

You see, Christianity is one of the most divided faiths in the world. Even the diverse number of churches around the globe establishes this fact. Why? Many of us don’t have the same spiritual understanding, although we all use the same Bible. Hmm! But God, in His own wisdom, does not have any problem with us having more churches. Why? Because the Body of Christ consists of several components, and each part has its own duty. What ministry A is commissioned by God to do may be different from that of ministry B. However, the distinction in divine mandate should not bring diversity to spiritual understanding.

For any preacher that consistently divides other believers in Christ, warn such a person. To be safe, don’t listen to such a person if he’s a preacher. It will help guard you from getting a corrupt understanding of the Word. May the Lord guide you in your race of faith.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me always mingle around like-minded people in Christ. Give me genuine friendships in Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
