“The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.” - Matthew 11:19 NKJV
There are several methods of doing things in this world. Some are good, others are bad, even though they can generate the same result for you.
For example, a student can bribe a teacher to get a good grade, while another can learn so hard to get the same grade. Even though the results are the same, the former was inappropriate while the latter was well done. In the initial stages of the release of the results, one may not see its immediate effects until there comes a time that knowledge from the course is needed. It is there you’ll know that bribing someone for good grades never contributes to any good thing in your life.
The justification of wisdom is found in her children (the results seen after wisdom is applied). When Jesus was on earth, He rarely fasted after the forty days of fasting. People came to speak against how He ate: saying He was a glutton and a winebibber. Nevertheless, His exploits were too evident that they couldn’t be overlooked.
Do you have people who mock you for doing something unusual for the kingdom of God? They may not see the immediate result of your labour and sacrifice. But if you’ll be consistent, not giving up on following the direction of the Lord, then there’ll be a time of perpetual manifestation of God’s goodness in your life that beats your mockers’ imaginations. Let God be true, and every man be a liar. What He has said, He’ll supervise it to come to pass.
You’re a blessing.
