“Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else,” — Galatians 6:4 NIV
A primary cause of comparison is the inability of a person to examine his own actions to prove their genuity and effectiveness. Comparison sets in when one person thinks he is better off than someone else. Meanwhile, God created each one differently. And although some of us may do similar things, it’s only an avenue to learn from one another instead of breeding comparison.
Lisa Bevere once said that “comparison robs the body of Christ of uniqueness.”
In Galatians 6:4, Paul tells us to test our actions. Translated word “test” in that scripture is “scrutinise,” which means to check your actions to the extent that you can judge whether they are good or bad before God.
Too many of us are quick to judge others instead of judging ourselves. Watch your life closely, not casually. What routines and habits have you built in your own life that aren’t good, yet you can’t notice them? Check that. Maybe, you’re quick to judge people’s thoughts. Meanwhile, it’s only God who reads people’s minds. That means you ought to repent on that.
The devil can make you see a lot of ills about all people except you. So you may think that you’re better than someone else. Friend, don’t be deceived. There are numerous aspects of your life that God wants to transform, yet He wants you to surrender to Him.
Test your actions. Allow the Spirit of God to help you identify life areas you need correction and transformation, and then pray for Him to take control. It could be how you talk, manage money, or a bad attitude towards work. He can use others to notify you in those areas. Therefore, don’t neglect correction despite the discomfort it brings.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Oh God, help me see where I need transformation; so that I will surrender all those aspects of my life unto you in the name of Jesus, Amen!
