Remain at Peace Despite the Personal Successes of Others

[7] “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.” – Psalms 37:7 (NKJV)

Everybody wants to be successful in life. Right? Even though that is not a bad thing to wish for, some people fulfil this desire much faster than others. Especially for young people who used to be classmates, when they see a fellow agemate succeed at a level they dream of, either they envy the person or start comparing their lives to theirs. But friend, who told you that all those people have clean hands before God?

You see, man sees what is outside, but God looks at the heart. A person may enjoy a lavish life for others to applaud Him for, but God knows where he has missed it in his heart. Until you look at life beyond what you can see, you envy what others have and not be appreciative of yours. I, as a preacher, have had to counsel too many people who have battled with the spirit of comparison in recent years.

Dear friend, the Bible says you must rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. In your waiting period, remain at peace, and the way to do that is to cease thinking about the successes of others. Do yourself a favour by praying earnestly for the peace of God to rule in your heart and mind (see Philippians 4:6-7). And don’t rush into things just to please others.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your love and care in my life. Help me remain at peace as I trust You to fulfil every promise You have made concerning my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
