[12] “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” – John 14:12 (NKJV)
In the African leadership style, many leaders don’t like to see young people they have trained to do better than them, especially in ministry. After observing many ministries’ administrations for years, I realised that many brought the best things in the headquarters, not sub-branches, making many branch pastors lose sight of seeing big things in ministry. Today, it’s difficult in Africa to see branch pastors do bigger things that are not even done at the headquarters. What a limiting system! Real leaders want those they have trained to do better than them, not to do less than them.
This doctrine I’m teaching today is not from my mind. It is found in scripture. Jesus said anyone who believes in Him will do greater works than He did. And that holds true for many preachers’ lives. Many evangelists have held larger crusades than Jesus did in Israel. But is Jesus ever insecure about what’s happening? Of course not. Why? Because He wants His servants to conquer nations for Him.
Don’t take your leadership principles from the world as a Christian leader. Instead, let them be inspired from the Bible. Avoid limiting people under your training on what they are to do. Men don’t like domination. Teach people what to do and how to lead themselves as they build loyalty first to God and then to you if they work with you. You’ll realise that your workload will even reduce.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to love anyone you bring under my care. Help every person I work with do better in everything they do as long as they follow Your pattern. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
