[12] “Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” – 2 Timothy 3:12 (NKJV)
When you accepted Jesus at first, did you think you’d ever be persecuted for your faith in Christ? Well, for those who knew the repercussions of their choice to follow Jesus, they did know they’d be persecuted. But many people didn’t even think about that. In fact, many believers today got born again because they wanted to escape hell, and that’s a valid reason for accepting Jesus to be saved. But that’s not all. There are many more reasons why Jesus saved you; one is that you will fulfil His purpose for your life.
If you ever thought that getting saved is the end, I am here to tell you that that is the beginning. As Jesus draws you in and you get to know Him better, He gives you the privilege to witness Him everywhere you go. And because of that, you’ll start facing persecution because some people will not accept your message. That is why you need to normalise persecution in your life as a Christian.
Jesus, before leaving the earth, said that the world hates Him (see John 7:7). So because you carry His name, don’t be surprised when the world hates you. Sometimes, those you interact with are used to living in carnal and devilish ways. So, to them, Jesus is of no use. The devil has blinded them, but they don’t know. Oh, Jesus. See, some people need the gospel, but they can’t see its worth. You have to push the gospel anyway because they will know that you helped them only after they have been born again and mature in the knowledge of God.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to endure persecution for Your name’s sake as I preach the gospel. May Your name be recognised whenever my name is mentioned. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
