[16] “For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. [17] And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! [18] Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.” – 1 Corinthians 15:16-18 (NKJV)
One time, I was having a chat with a missionary who encountered an atheist while on the mission field a while back. That person argued that there is no resurrection in Christ, which sparked a more heated argument. My friend, being very knowledgeable about scriptures, didn’t want the atheist to go scot-free. He wanted to prove to him that Jesus resurrected. Secondly, he knew that debunking the belief in Jesus’ resurrection is detrimental to the Christian faith because of what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:16-18.
The Bible says that if Christ is not risen, then your faith is futile (other versions say, in vain). That means the resurrection of Christ is the bedrock of your faith in God. Take it out, and you have nothing left to keep believing God for. To prove this to you, let’s read Romans 10:9 (NKJV), one of the most profound scriptures about salvation. It says,
“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
From the verse above, what you need to believe in your heart, even before confessing with your mouth the Lord Jesus, is Jesus’ resurrection. So, your salvation is contingent on this part of faith. Dear one, never let go of your belief in Jesus’ resurrection. Reject every argument that aims to debunk this claim because it is from the pit of hell trying to prevent people from getting saved.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for letting Jesus die and resurrect for me. May I never accept that lie that Jesus didn’t resurrect from whichever person. Let not my faith stand in the wisdom of men. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
