[10] “Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,” – 2 Peter 1:10 (NIV)
In every country where presidents get voted into power, it has always been noted that it is one thing to be voted for and another to deliver to the people who voted for you. Government leaders who know this principle very well work hard to please the citizens, especially during election years, lest they lose their government power seats. Thankfully, in Christ, believers don’t vote others into power. God calls each of His children by name. But there is more to you than just being called.
The Bible tells us in 2 Peter 1:10 that you should make every effort to confirm your calling and election in Christ as a believer. And there is a reason for that, written in the same Bible verse: “… For if you do these things, you will never stumble.” But you may ask, if I am not in competition with anybody in Christ, why should I work so hard to prove that God has called me? Dear one, I want to remind you that it isn’t about what people say but to please the Master.
If God has called you, don’t think or say people will accept your ministry right on the go. No! It doesn’t work like that. You must labour to please the Lord by faithfully doing what He has called you to do, and then you’ll see progress in your calling. All those Christians who know they are called in Christ but haven’t made any indelible kingdom impact may be because they are lackadaisical in the kingdom’s work. Don’t be like them. Stay focused on God and work.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for calling me. Help and provide me with whatever I need to work hard to advance Your kingdom’s impact, even in this perverse generation. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
