Life Is More Than Food

[23] “For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.” – Luke 12:23 (NIV)

In Luke 12:22, Jesus counselled us not to worry about our lives, especially when it comes to thinking about what to eat and wear. But in verse 23, He said that life is more than food and the body more than clothes. I want to focus on the first part in today’s devotional.

In a world driven by many economic activities, did you know that many people are doing hand-to-mouth jobs? Some people’s reason for working is just to get enough money to buy food. Oh, what a tragedy. You can be assured that those who are working like this fall below the poverty line. Right?

But Jesus, in the quest to end that poverty mindset, said that life is more than food. In other words, think beyond working just to get something to eat. It’s a shallow mindset. Don’t embrace it. Otherwise, you’ll not climb higher in the ladder of impact with what God has called you to do. Make up your mind that you’ll think about having everything in abundance so you can share with those in need and not think about yourself and your family alone. May the Lord help you to be more impactful with your work.
