God Did Not Call You to Be Impure

[7] “For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:7 (NIV)

What comes to mind when you hear the word “holiness”? Purity before God. Right? But do you know living a holy life is one of the things people find hard to do these days? Today, even in business, many people use lies to cheat customers and have made it so normal that they don’t see what they do as wrong. What a tragedy!

The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 4:7 that God did not call us to be impure. But what? To live a holy life. That’s a spiritual demand on each child of God’s life. And, in order to make it so easy for God’s children to live like this, He made us holy in Him when we got saved (see Hebrews 10:10). So today, when God tells you to live a holy life, He just wants you to live as you ought to in the Lord, not someone you are not.

Do you sometimes get convicted in your heart when you do something wrong? Then, that is the Holy Spirit prompting you to get back on track with God. It is easier to live who you actually are than you are not. But in a world that lies in wickedness (see 1 John 5:19), it has now become difficult for many believers to take a firm stance for Christ where they are. Child of God, remember that everything in the world will perish. God won’t. Follow Christ ardently.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your immeasurable love upon my life. Help me live a pure life that honours You in everything I do. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
