Express Kindness in Urgency

“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so. Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it,” When you have it with you.” — Proverbs 3:27 - 28 NKJV

Kindness is a cherished virtue of love in Christ. It’s written that love is kind (1 Corinthians 13:4). However, kindness doesn’t always get done as quickly as possible, especially in urgent situations. It’s because people don’t want their plans to be distracted by the random happenings of life.

Proverbs 3:27 teaches us not to withhold good from those who need them, only when it’s in the power of our hands to do so. That means there are times we may not have the power to help a person in need, and also times we’ll have enough resources to help others.

In life, many people struggle to help people outside their circles, not because they don’t have, but because of improper planning. While it’s good for us to keep healthy boundaries, it’s also essential to factor in random happenings of life during any life planning. So that just in case there’s a need to express kindness in urgency, we’ll not be adversely affected after administering it.

For example, if you’re a proper financial planner and have understood that we were created unto good works in Christ (Ephesians 2:10), you’ll not plan to carry money on you only needed; but what’s enough for you and for anyone who might need your help one way or the other.

Friends, it’s about time we stop thinking too much about ourselves and start factoring in other people’s interests in our plans. In practising this, expressing kindness, even in hardships, won’t be a struggle in our lives.

Your parents may not have taught you how to live considering others in your plans. Learn this principle in Christ. Put other people’s interests above yours (Philippians 2:4). Learn to live always ready to be a blessing unto people’s lives, any day, and any time.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Oh God, help me think beyond myself as I live. Give me enough resources to live with; so that I’ll be a blessing unto others, able to express kindness in urgency at any time. Amen!
