“And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.” — Matthew 10:22 NKJV
Before Jesus sent out the twelve apostles for the first time, He gave them some instructions. He told them what to do—heal the sick, cleanse the leprous, raise the dead and cast out demons (Matthew 10:8). But in Matthew 10:16 and downwards, He started warning them about how to behave and remain strong in the faith.
I believe this Word wasn’t just for the Apostles but also the children of God today. Indirectly, Jesus is telling us that as long as we live in a wicked world (1 John 5:19), there’ll be persecutions against our faith. And when the persecution becomes as fierce as people hating us and blood-brothers delivering up (total neglect to take care of our needs, so to say) siblings to get killed, we should endure to the end.
That means that in Christ, there’s not only joy in God’s presence (Psalm 16:11) but also afflictions in this present world. Don’t ever think everyone will be by your side since the day you choose to follow Jesus. In some families, they neglect taking care of Christians altogether. But the Lord who called you is faithful, and He’ll help you and provide for your needs.
Don’t be bothered. Don’t be afraid. Don’t lose hope in the Lord because He’ll always send help. You only have to stay committed to Him and hold fast to your profession of faith. It is well with you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Oh God, I pray that you’ll grant me the tenacity to remain strong in the faith of Christ in me. Despite the afflictions I face, I choose to trust you that You’ll provide help and support in my time of need. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
