While growing up as a young Christian, one of the things I found hard to believe was the existence of enemies in my life. Because lots of like-minded believers surrounded me, I thought everybody in the world was like my friends. But I was greatly mistaken. As I grew older, I began to see people with evil intentions trying to do everything in their power to harm not only me but also other believers in Christ as well. I saw how badly the world’s systems have been programmed to work against the manifestations of children of God in the world. I discovered how people spend time devising evil means to hurt generations. Oh, what a tragedy. Of a truth, when the Bible says in 1 John 5:19 that the world lies in wickedness, it is indeed true.
Despite all the evil things happening in the world today, Micah provides an encouraging Word to every believer who feels people are anticipating their downfall. He said,
“Do not rejoice over me, my enemy;
When I fall, I will arise;
When I sit in darkness,
The LORD will be a light to me.”
You’ve got to declare these things to your enemies, whether you know those people or not. Not everyone thinks so well of you. It’s not everyone who wishes the best for you. As a matter of fact, the devil can even use some unbelievers to speak evil of you in your absence and still pretend to be good friends when they see you. You don’t have to pay back evil for evil, but you must make up your mind to always move forward. It is well with you.
