[27] “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel” – Philippians 1:27 (NIV)
As believers in Christ, we are distinguished from the world. Jesus said we are in the world but not of it (see John 17:11), which means that our conduct and manner of life will never be ordinary. That is why you must learn to stop comparing your life to an unbeliever. You and that person will never be on the same plane. Get that right!
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul told the believers in the Philippian church that they should conduct themselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ they have believed, no matter what happens. That means he knew that some things, both good and bad, would happen even as they followed Jesus. Today, that Word also goes unto you. Learn how to comport yourself in honour of God, no matter what happens in your life.
See, just because you are born again doesn’t mean your life is going to be all flashy. Sometimes, bad things might happen that can pose severe threats to your faith, but that doesn’t mean God has left you. Have you not read in Isaiah 43:2 that God said,
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.” – Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV)
God is always with you. He will never leave nor forsake you. Things may not go as well as you want it to be. But press on and move forward. It is well with you.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to hold onto Your promises as I wait unto You for my help. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
