Bless Those Who Persecute You

[14] “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” – Romans 12:14 (NKJV)

Persecution of believers in Christ has taken a different shape these days. In the days of the early church, people were tortured, crucified and even imprisoned for their faith. With the rise of several civil laws, these are banished from several nations. However, the law doesn’t address how many people behave adversely and in constant hatred toward the believers in Christ. In some sectors of business, Christians are sidelined and not preferred over others, not because they don’t have the skill but because they are hated. But what does the Bible say in response to these things?

Romans 12:14 says as a believer, you must bless those who persecute you. To emphasise this, Paul continued in the same verse, “… bless and do not curse.” Think about that! You must choose to bless those who make your life hard as a Christian rather than curse them. Paul emphasised “bless” twice because he knows when you curse those persecutors, it will severely affect their lives because they are fighting God in your life.

Come on! You are called to make a godly impact on your generation, not to rain curses on people for what they do, even if it makes your life hard. Remember that life is a journey, not a destination. Until you breathe your last breadth, you have to continue living, and that means witnessing Christ to people is an everyday work. Don’t give up, but hope in the Lord.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me bless those who persecute me and not curse them, even as I live to fulfil your purpose for my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
