[10] “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” – Ephesians 6:10 (NIV)
Last words in the apostle’s epistles meant a lot to them. Why do I say that? Because in those days, it wasn’t easy to get writing equipment like we have today. Furthermore, communication wasn’t fast. So, epistles took several days to reach a destination. For Paul to tell the Ephesian church, after all that he has said in preceding verses, to be strong in the Lord and His mighty power, he was saying that strength is needed in every believer’s faith journey.
People often write on the “be strong in the Lord” part of this verse. But today, I want us to consider the “… in His mighty power” aspect of the verse. What does it mean to be strong in the mighty power of God? After all, power, in itself, is strong. Okay, let me break it down.
The power of God is resident in each believer. Why? According to John 1:12 (KJV), God gave each one of us power to become His children. So, to be strong in God’s power means to become robust in administering who God has made you in your life. And let me say that it takes a lot of consciousness to do that! God is good and wants the best for each of His children. But He knows we live in an evil age where many people have identity crises. That is why He wants us to be strong. You must insist on who you are everywhere you go, lest others deceive you with empty words and try changing your godly convictions.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to be strong in Your mighty power, which is a resident in my life. May I represent You well wherever I go. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
