Be Prudent Enough to Give Thought to Your Steps

[15] “The simple believe anything, but the prudent give thought to their steps.” – Proverbs 14:15 (NIV)

When I was a teenager, I used to hear this quote a lot in school: “Look before you leap.” That helped me think a lot about things before making certain decisions. It also helped me distinguish myself from many of my peers who used to do awful things. Fast-forward to today, as I write this devotional, I can see boldly written in scripture that the prudent give thought to their steps.

Let me tell you something. We live in a world full of various things, both good and bad. Evil people are devising more ways to do evil things, and good people are also trying their possible best to make this world a better place. However, since this world is heavily populated with both good and evil people in several areas, it is not surprising for bad people to suggest bad things to good people, even in a deceitful way. In dealing with that situation, Proverbs 14:15 comes in.

You ought to be prudent enough to give thought to your steps before you sign up and follow the suggestions from others. There could be a wicked end to that idea that seems promising before your eyes today. Don’t be a person who gets up and just does things without thinking about them, especially their future implications.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your grace and mercy in my life. Help me to be prudent enough to give thought to my steps as I make decisions every day. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
