Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over Me at all if it had not been given to you from above. For this reason the sin and guilt of the one who handed Me over to you is greater [than your own].” - John 19:11 AMP
God gives authority to those in leadership positions everywhere. But in most cases, only a few of them recognize that they are in those positions because of the Lord’s doing.
Romans 13:1 (NIV) says,
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
If each person in authority will recognize that they’ve been given authority from above to perform duties and tasks in their current leadership position, they’d stop abusing power when ruling over people.
When Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate, He didn’t give any answer to several of Pilate’s questions. But one of the few replies Jesus gave to one of Pilate’s numerous questions was that “You would have no authority over Me at all if it had not been given to you from above.” By saying this, Jesus was making Pilate aware that his authority to execute judgment was heavenly, not earthly, even though he was a king and his position had nothing to do with the Church.
To those in leadership positions, please recognize that you have divine authority to do your work. Therefore, serve where you are with grace in your heart as you manifest Christ in all endeavours of life.
You’re a blessing.
