[1] “Vindicate me, LORD, for I have led a blameless life; I have trusted in the LORD and have not faltered.” – Psalms 26:1 (NIV)
David was one man who had a lot of setbacks in life, although he made a lot of effort to rule his life as well as his kingdom in the fear of the Lord. Did he commit mistakes? Yes, he did. So, he wasn’t perfect. But before he wrote Psalm 26:1, there wasn’t a record of bad things he had done in the Bible. His adulterous sin with Bathsheba made him write Psalm 51, and since Psalm 26 comes before 51, he told God, “… I have led a blameless life,” which was quite understandable. So, just as David prayed that prayer, you can ask the Lord to vindicate you if you have a clean life. However, that isn’t the case for many people in life. But there is hope.
Sometimes, when you approach God concerning a matter, you have to bring up evidence as to why He must grant your request. For instance, Hezekiah didn’t want to die when Isaiah came to tell him to prepare his house. What did the king do? He remembered God about how he had walked before Him in truth and with a perfect heart. So, because of that justification, God added fifteen more years to his life right there and then (see 2 Kings 20:1-6).
You see, God is not unrighteous to forget your labour of love (see Hebrews 6:10). Don’t think when you give God valid reasons to answer your prayer, He won’t mind you. Sometimes, pleading your case in the court of heaven demands that you pray longer rather than shorter. Keep praying, and let God, to whom vengeance is, help you address every matter in your life.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for hearing me when I pray. Cleanse my life of every filth, Lord, and vindicate me in matters I am blameless in. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
