A Different Kind of Food for the Child of God

“[8] But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.” — Daniel 1:8 NIV

If you choose to eat like the worldly people eat, you’ll end up growing to become like them. There’s a different kind of food for the child of God. And Daniel knew this truth. So he resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine served to those appointed by the officials.

Even though Azariah, Hananiah and Mishael didn’t voice out in support of Daniel, he added them to those who’ll just get served with vegetables and water. And then, after ten days, these people looked healthier and better nourished than the remaining people.

That thing that happened in Daniel is symbolic of what you, as a believer, must be doing today. That is, being so intentional to feed on God’s Word according to your spiritual template received by the Holy Spirit, so much so that the world will see the difference of Christ in you.

It’s never written that Azariah, Hananiah and Mishael prayed three times a day like that of Daniel. But they were men of God. Find your spiritual fellowship template in Christ with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and stick to it. You’ll mature so much in the Spirit that you’ll emerge a world changer very soon.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for providing spiritual nourishment that distinguishes us from the world. Help me identify mine and remain committed to drinking from the well of eternal life of Christ in me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
